Steve Aoki & Louis Tomlinson

Wish that you could build a time machine
So you could see
The things no one can see
Feels like you’re standing on the edge
Looking at the stars
And wishing you were them
‪What do you do when a chapter ends?‬
‪Do you close the book and never read it again?‬
‪Where do you go when your story’s done?‬
‪You can be who you were or who you’ll become
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, if it all goes wrong
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, darling just hold on ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
‪The sun goes down and it comes back up
‪The world it turns no matter what
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, if it all goes wrong
Darling, just hold on‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, darling, just hold on
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh
It’s not over ’til it’s all been said
‪It’s not over ’til your dying breath
‪So what do you want them to say when you’re gone?‬
‪That you gave up or that you kept going on?‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
‪What do you do when a chapter ends?‬
‪Do you close the book and never read it again?‬
‪Where do you go when your story’s done?‬
‪You can be who you were or who you’ll become
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, ‪if it all goes wrong
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, darling just hold on‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
‪The sun goes down and it comes back up
‪The world it turns no matter what
Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh oh, if it all goes wrong
Darling, just hold on‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Dear Hold On,

I like your concept of a time machine that helps you see things no one can see – which I am assuming are in the future. Research shows that having a clear vision of yourself and your goals makes you more likely to get what you envision. I often ask my clients to envision themselves in one year, five, or even ten so that they can cultivate a relationship with their future selves. I guess we could call this a “therapy time machine.” Envisioning yourself in the future helps you make better choices in the present by giving you a clearer connection to the impact of your present choices. This vision of the future should also provide you with hope that if you make conscientious choices, you are sowing the seeds for an even better life. Sometimes, to get to that bright future, we have to be in the dark for a little while, recovering and healing day-by-day, enduring difficult tasks towards a challenging greater goal.

Keep holding on and working hard towards wherever you want to go!

To be continued,
